“Wonder” is a delightful new film adapted from the novel of the same name by R. J.  Palacio by writer-director Stephen Chbosky. “Wonder” is the story of August “Auggie” Pullman (Jacob Tremblay), a normal 5th grader in almost every way. Almost.

“The Star” is a wonderful retelling of the Christmas story but with a fun twist: the animals who inhabit the story drive the action.

Pixar's latest film, "Cars 3," brings back our favorite race car, Lightning McQueen, for another turn around the track. When younger, faster cars start winning, he has to re-evaluate his racing. Cruz Ramierez becomes his new trainer but she considers him "old school." He might be old school but he still has something to give.

If your kids are familiar with the "Captain Underpants" books by Dav Pilkey, they will probably get a kick out of the age-appropriate potty humor and fart jokes in the movie. I have to confess that I really enjoyed the antics of George and Harold, having been one of those kids who giggled whenever there was a bit of flatulence.

Please, go see “Gifted.” It may not be a perfect movie (the court scenes are too long) and unapologetic about manipulating your emotions but the giftedness celebrated in the story is well worth it.
