FEEDBACK FROM PARTICIPANTS OF SR. MARIE PAUL'S WORKSHOPS & RETREATS:

“It was such a gift to have Sr. Marie Paul join us. She really challenged the young adults and me to allow the Word of God to ‘sink deep’ into our very being. The young adults were impressed with her love for Mission and her profound depth of Spirituality. Her talk became a great boost to our practice of Lectio Divina before Jesus present in the Eucharist.” – Father Michael Harrington, Director of the Office of Outreach and Cultural Diversity, Boston Archdiocese

“[The retreat] was completely a positive experience, a wonderful combination of prayer and reflection. I enjoyed the inserted stories and visual enhancements, plus the vitality of Sr. Marie Paul as a speaker, which kept me absorbed in everything that was going on.” – Patricia S.

SR. MARIE PAUL’S TOP FIVE WORKSHOPS/RETREATS:

Several of the following presentations can be workshops/conferences or retreats, which include time for quiet reflection and prayer.

SPIRITUALITY FOR MEDIA ARTISTS

Delve into the rich, recently-developed theology of communication, which finds its source in the loving communion of the Persons of the Blessed Trinity, and which calls us as communicators to build up the communion of humanity with God. Drawing from great communicators ranging from St. Paul to Pope Francis, the presentation includes “best practices” for how to communicate effectively and pastorally, as well as resources for nurturing one’s spirituality and creativity.

ENCOUNTER: A COMMUNICATIVE LIFESTYLE

Pope Francis calls all people of good will to transform their interactions and relationships into genuine encounters—encounters in which we recognize the other’s dignity and sacredness; encounters in which we are open to the mystery of the other person, and can recognize the image of Christ in one another. What are the obstacles to this lifestyle in our digital age where social media often prevails over face-to-face interaction? We will explore how we can nurture a lifestyle that fosters communication as encounter, especially when so many demands fragment our time, attention, and relationships.

WRITING AS A SPIRITUAL ADVENTURE

Unpacks Pope St. John Paul’s powerful Letter to Artists and explores how the beauty, attentiveness, and adventure of an artistic life can feed our spiritual lives, and how our spiritual lives can become a strong foundation for our creativity.

THE EUCHARIST: A FACE-TO-FACE ENCOUNTER WITH JESUS

The Eucharist is the Heart of the world, the Church, our digital age, and our very lives. This conference/retreat encourages us to renew our Eucharistic prayer and allow Christ’s Eucharistic love to transform our media lives and our way of relating to others. (The conference may be followed by a guided hour of adoration.)

WINDOWS TO THE SOUL: A PAULINE DIALOGUE BETWEEN FAITH & POPULAR MEDIA

Every artistic effort, every media production, is a window to the soul of its creator. Our media culture is also a window--to the soul of humanity. As followers of Christ immersed in social media, we are called to respond to the needs of humanity in our day-to-day lives and through the media that we consume, share, and create. These personal musings on the spirituality of a Catholic media artist can be directed towards:

a) encouraging the ordinary Catholic to engage in the dialogue between faith and media, especially using social media, with suggestions for how to do this effectively; and/or

b) reflecting on and deepening the spirituality of Christian writers and media producers.
